“The Masters in May”
Kansas City Barbecue Society Sanctioned BBQ Competition

May 1-2  &  2-3, 2015

Our Mission
It is our mission to honor the dedicated competitors who make up the sport of competitive BBQ by hosting an early-season high-quality barbeque competition.

Our Vision
Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, our competition strives to celebrate, preserve and promote barbeque as a culinary technique, sport and art form. In addition, we seek to foster a fun, safe and competitive forum that promotes friendships, fairness, support and appreciation for the fine products of the agricultural community including chicken, pork and beef.

Our Origins
“The Masters in May” KCBS sanctioned barbeque competition was developed by a dedicated group of BBQ enthusiasts, many of whom emerged from the BBQ Club of Wisconsin’s Fox River Valley. Most of our founding group continue to volunteer, judge or compete in the event.

Our Chairman
Bob Schemm of Kaukauna, WI.

We invite you to attend the 2015 Masters In May and The Classic. Together with our friendly volunteers, we’re excited and privileged to present this second annual event. In 2013 we filled all 48 openings in March. We were happy to reach capacity but hated to turn away teams. In 2014 we had 64 teams…and more prize money.

The Masters in May is focused on providing our participants an outstanding barbeque contest in a first-rate facility. It is our sincere goal to make this a positive and fun experience for all in hopes that you’ll come back year after year. See you there!
